This paper reviews the theory and practice of eddy current inspection as applied to the in-process inspection of tube and pipe. Various types of transducer are discussed together with attendant location possibilities on the mill. Consideration is given to flaws that can be detected against those which are likely to be missed. Data acquisition, report formatting and information archiving are also addressed.
