Annular projection welding has been used for many years for the attaching of steel fasteners such as nuts, studs, pipe, spuds and fusites to sheet metal stamping for the automotive, appliance and general metals industries. This paper is focused on some of the essential aspects required of producing annular projection welds. More specifically, on the machine attributes and welding characteristics needed for these typically high current and high force projection welds.
