Fluidized bed heat treating was introduced commercially to the metal treating industry over 15 years ago. Since that time, the inherent characteristics of fluidized bed technology have led to advances in nitriding, nitrocarburizing, hardening and carburizing heat treating processes. This paper will review current application, equipment and other operating aspects of fluidized bed heat treating.
