Multicolor/material injection molding can reduce manufacturing cost and improve product appeal by: permitting in-mold assembly of articulating products, improving the tactile or other aesthetic properties of a product, improving the mechanical or structural properties of a part, or by recycling scrap into the core of a part. Examples are provided to support the listed advantages. Methodologies explained include sandwich molding, monosandwich molding, and over-molding. Resin considerations and combinations are detailed, as are mold/machine requirements. Many real-world product examples are shown, along with details of manufacture.
