This paper discusses stitching technology in a general sense. The technology will be directed to what is applicable to the pultrusion industry. The topics include: overview of pultruded stiffened wing plank preform manufacturing process; thread, machinery, needles, stitch types, bed types and feed systems options and definitions; criteria and method for defining stitching equipment; advantages of stitching preforms for pultrusion; development of an in-line stitching/pultrusion system, and an in-house preform manufacturing start up kit.
