This paper reviews the evolution in prepreg, from the beginning to its present form, with high speed machinery, ISO-9000 process control and special air quality and EPA mandated equipment. Along each step in the evolution of the prepreg industry, it has had to change to the requirement of the time. Adaptation has been the key to the industry. It had its origin in performance driven requirements and limited rate production. It transitioned to performance and cost driven requirements with moderate rates of production and now is knocking on the market sector of traditional building materials-concrete and steel.
