The Physical Properties Lab of the future will be different from the lab of today. While the properties of the materials may be the same from generation to generation, how they will be determined will change. Traditional plastic testing labs will need to increase their capabilities through improved instrumentation, computerization, and enhanced techniques to meet the needs of the customer. This change will be driven by the need for improved product quality, improved testing efficiency, test standardization and better reproducibility of data. This paper will address three important factors that will contribute to the success of these laboratories.
