Chemical foaming agents for structural foam injection molding are described in terms of their function, composition and behavior. Differences in expansion and nucleation performance are examined. The impact of various foaming agents on processing and final properties of foamed parts is reviewed. Some basic processing guidelines are discussed and new developments in the technology of chemical foaming agents are presented.
