In view of the technological developments, the education of manufacturing engineers demand more than the imparting of engineering and manufacturing knowledge. Moreover, the possible areas of responsibility are so widely diversified for manufacturing engineers that the total knowledge required within the existing framework of education cannot be imparted. In this paper, the concept of a teaching factory as a training center for manufacturing engineers is discussed.
