The Integrated Science and Technology (ISAT) program at James Madison University offers a curricular model that will prepare professionals to become operations integrator. According to the findings of a study commissioned by SME, engineers acting as operations integrators will be expected to possess a good balance of depth and breadth in the traditional functional areas of technical specialists and manufacturing strategists. Enough technical specialists and manufacturing strategists are produced by existing programs. It is therefore necessary to focus on educating the operating integrator.
