Technical developments and globalization of markets require a new approach in engineering education. The article describes a joint effort of the Fraunhofer Resource Center Massachusetts and Boston University with its Boston University Production Technology Center. The opportunities and perspectives for students are demonstrated. This includes the use of state of the art production equipment in an environment that is described as production-like.
