The Learning Factory is a new program between Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Worcester Polytechnic Institute where students work on-site within company sponsored projects as part of their university education. This paper discusses the educational benefits and drawbacks of the Learning Factory, and its role in creating a mechanism for improved university and industrial interaction.
