Major enhancements in curricula and research are underway in the areas of robotics, automation and metrology, involving several departments in the College of Engineering and Technology at Brigham Young University. This paper focuses on a new laboratory for investigating automation systems called the Electronics Assembly and Automation Laboratory (EAAL). This modern facility serves both education and research in manufacturing and electronics by bringing unique prototyping flexibility to small parts and circuit board assembly.
