THIS PAPER DETAILS THE APPLICATION OF STATISTICAL PROCESS CONTROL (SPC) IN A NON-MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENT. THROUGH THE CASE STUDY OF A SOFTWARE TEST PROCESS, ALL OF THE PHASES FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SPC WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF A NON-MANUFACTURING PROCESS ARE EXAMINED. TECHNIQUES FOR MEASUREMENT OF OBJECTIVE, AS WELL AS SUBJECTIVE DATA ARE DISCUSSED FOLLOWED BY A REVIEW OF SPC AS A CATALYST FOR CONTINUOUS PROCESS IMPROVEMENT. FINALLY, CONCLUSIONS ARE DRAWN AND RECOMMENDATIONS ARE MADE BASED UPON THE OBJECTIVES OF LONG-TERM CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT AND OF CULTURAL EVOLUTION THAT ARE PARAMOUNT TO THE SUCCESS OF ANY QUALITY CONTROL PROCESS.
