This paper will discuss some results from the Near Zero Stamping project which were developed by the Engineering Research Center for Net Shape Manufacturing and Sekely Industries. The intent was to conduct computer simulations in parallel with hard tool tryouts of an actual fender outer draw die. In this way, what was seen on the computer screen could be related to tryout results. Actions that were taken in the die were also taken on the computer model. This study revealed that computer simulation was a powerful tool to detect forming problems and reduce costly die tryout.
