State-of-the-art and historical technology of vinyl heat stabilizers is described with background information on North American and European scenarios. Typical test methods for evaluating heat stabilizers as well as two application examples are presented. The conclusion that Ca/Zn stabilizer systems are a viable alternative for the future is drawn from a number of advantages over conventional stabilizer systems.
