The purpose of this paper is twofold. The first is to identify the benefits to the press owner for maintaining a proper balancing pressure within his press. Secondly, to differentiate between setting this counterbalance pressure based on the press manufacturers' guidelines versus accurate strain analysis of the weight distribution of ram and tooling.
