There have been significant developments in the extrusion of rigid vinyl foam over the past decade. Formulation additives, tooling, and processing expertise have made possible a variety of new applications for PVC foam products. This paper will provide the following: 1) overview of PVC foam processing technologies; 2) effect of formulation ingredients on density, surface quality and other physical properties; 3) processing and formulation recommendations for making good quality PVC foam; 4) guidelines for troubleshooting the PVC foam process.
