Systematic techniques for modeling the components and robustly controlling the velocity of a wide variety of hydraulic forming equipment are presented. In particular, these modeling and control techniques are applied to a 1000-ton hydraulic forge press. Experimental results that verify the accuracy of the simulation model are presented along with simulation results that illustrate the robust performance of a newly proposed control law.
