The paper presents an experimental and analytical investigation into the incremental upset forging problem of a finite thickness slab of ductile material compressed quasi-statically between three opposed flat, rigid punches of different widths, two at the top and the third at the bottom, in plane strain. The results of die loads estimated from the above analytical and the finite element approach are compared with those obtained experimentally and the results commented upon.
