For many years now, CNC productivity has focused on raw computing capability. Processing speed is only one aspect of machining productivity. Many other issues require attention to provide near optimal production rates. Among these issues are ease of operation, machine/process limits and process protection. This paper attempts to point out some of the advances in these other areas of productivity.
