THIS PAPER PRESENTS AN INVESTIGATION OF THE RELATION BETWEEN THE GRINDING FACTORS AND FLEXURAL STRENGTH OF SILICON NITRIDE CERAMICS. THE STUDY IS CARRIED OUT TO IMPROVE THE RELIABILITY AND REDUCE THE COST OF STRUCTURAL CERAMICS. IT IS MADE CLEAR THAT THE GRINDING DIRECTION AND ABRASIVE GRAIN SIZE ARE IMPORTANT GRINDING FACTORS. ADDITIONALLY, THE FLEXURAL STRENGTH DEPENDS ON THE FORCE ACTING ON A GRAIN, SO THE GRINDING WHEEL AND GRINDING CONDITIONS SHOULD BE SELECTED TO REDUCE THE FORCE.
