THIS PAPER DESCRIBES A GENERAL, SYSTEMATIC APPROACH WHICH CAN DESIGN A ROBOTIC CELL FOR DEBURRING. ALSO DESCRIBED IS THE USE OF THE APPROACH IN THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A ROBOTIC CELL FOR DEBURRING A FAMILY OF PARTS IN THE TOM BEVILL CENTER FOR ADVANCED MANUFACTURING IN GADSDEN, ALABAMA. THE THREE INTERRELATED PHASES OF THE CELL DESIGN ARE DEFINITION, SELECTION, AND INTEGRATION. EACH PHASE IS A RESULT OF ANALYSIS, DECISIONS, AND APPROPRIATE ACTIONS.
