THIS REPORT PRESENTS A SYSTEM FOR MONITORING GRINDING PROCESS. IN GRINDING OPERATIONS, ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PROBLEMS IS TO ACCURATELY DETERMINE THE TOOL LIFE OF A GRINDING WHEEL. AS A NEW ATTEMPT, AN AE SENSOR INTEGRATED CBN WHEEL WAS DEVELOPED TO DEFINE THE TOOL LIFE OF THE WHEEL. THE DETECTED AE SIGNAL IS SENT BY WIRELESS TO THE RECEIVER OUTSIDE OF THE WHEEL. IN THIS WAY, THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE GRINDING POINT AND THE SENSOR COULD BE SHORTENED, SO THE INFLUENCE OF NOISE COULD BE REDUCED AND IT IS NOT OBSTRUCTIVE TO THE OPERATION.
