Manufacturers of pipe, profile, vinyl siding, compounds, and other types of processes using a single or multiple powder base resin are usually interested in new developments that will help them feed free flowing and non-free flowing powdered materials. Over the past 25-30 years, companies have developed volumetric and most recently gravimetric feeding equipment to make this possible. Processors are now requiring that blending be performed both at the extruder and in the compounding/blending rooms. One of the overriding problems that has been experienced through the years is the ability to continuously feed the powder base resins while ensuring the accuracy of the blend.
