This paper intends to discuss the notion that repeatable high-speed machining performance may be more favorably achieved with certain tool connection designs as compared to others. To address this subject in this way will drive the machine builder, the tool builder, and the user of the machine to more carefully consider each of the tool connection design conditions that may have a significant bearing on the outcome of the machining intended to be done with the entire system.
