THIS PAPER DISCUSSES ABSOLUTE POSITION RECOVERY IN A PSEUDO-RANDOM ENCODED ENVIRONMENT FOR AN AGV USING AN ON-BOARD VISION SYSTEM. DISTINCT GRAPHICAL (GEOMETRIC) SYMBOLS, ARE USED FOR A POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION OF THE BINARY VALUES. THE PSEUDO-RANDOM SEQUENCE ENCODED WITH THESE SYMBOLS CONTAINS ENOUGH INFORMATION TO DEFINE THE DIRECTION AND ORIENTATION OF THE GUIDEPATH. DESCRIBED ARE THE IMAGE PROCESSING ASPECTS OF THE PSEUDO-RANDOM ENCODING AND GEOMETRIC SYMBOL RECOGNITION.
