THIS STUDY COMPARES THE VARIOUS NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS THAT ARE USED TO EVALUATE AND QUALIFY COMPUTER NUMERICALLY CONTROLLED MACHINING CENTERS. THIS COMPARISON OF TESTING STANDARDS IS USEFUL TO MACHINE TOOL BUILDERS AND BUYERS OPERATING IN INTERNATIONAL MARKETS. IN ADDITION, THE COMPARISON PROVIDES MEASURES FOR LOW COST APPROACHES TO ACCURACY IMPROVEMENT, ERROR COMPENSATION, AND CONCURRENT ENGINEERING. TWO DISTINCT APPROACHES TO PERFORMANCE TESTING ARE DISCUSSED ALONG WITH ASSOCIATED MEASUREMENT UNCERTAINTY.
