The demands of the metal coil processing industry for high quality, high production equipment has caused the machinery building industry to place a great deal of emphasis on the development of optimal slitting lines. Various configurations and their strengths and weaknesses are discussed at length. The quality of the final product is examined as it relates directly to different components of the equipment. Width accuracy, slitter induced camber, and burr are explored as controllable qualities of the final slit strand. Finally, the Loop-to-Loop Slitting arrangement is revealed as the best method for achieving the ultimate in slit strand quality.
