Standarden angir oppstillingsplaner for resultatregnskap og balanse til bruk ved oppstilling av årsregnskap. Rammen for kontokoder er utformet bl.a. med sikte på at kontokodene skal gi de nødvendige spesifikasjoner for rapportering til offentlige institusjoner, for regnskapsanalyse, regnskaps-sammenligning osv.
For å unngå sammenblanding med kontokodene i rammen er postene i oppstillingsplanene ikke nummerert.
Sammenhengen mellom oppstillingsplan og rammen for kontokoder er vist i punkt 6.
