This practice provides a screening procedure for pulp taken directly from the blow pit or discharged from digesters, eliminating time lapse and assuring uniform screening conditions. This pulp is washed and screened in a flat screen prior to sheet making.
The practice directly measures the debris content in chemical, mechanical and recycled pulps. It can also determine flake content, providing a defibering index for the pulp at various repulping stages.
