The purpose of this method is to establish a recommended procedure for measuring press fabric thickness. It is a simple and practical method using a hand-held caliper gauge. It may be used for large fabrics installed on a machine or for smaller laboratory samples. For more extensive characterization or used fabric analysis, refer to TIP 0404-34 "Wet Felt Void Volume."
