TAPPI TIP 0404-65 outlines basic considerations for chemical cleaning and conditioning for paper machine press fabrics. Mechanical cleaning and conditioning through the use of press section showers and/or suction boxes (Uhle box) is covered in TAPPI TIPs 0404-61 and 0404-27. For on-machine monitoring of the press fabrics, refer to TAPPI TIP 0404-19. TAPPI TIP 0404-51 provides some chemical cleaning recommendations for paper machines utilizing recycled fiber furnish.
This Technical Information Paper is only a guide to effective chemical cleaning of press fabrics. It is recognized that all machines and machine furnishes are unique. The optimum fabric cleaning program needs to be developed through a history of detailed fabric analysis and cleaning applications.
