The purpose of this Technical Information Paper (TIP) is to provide guidelines for nondestructive examination (NDE) of yankee dryers and similar assets using acoustic emission technologies. The guidelines are applicable to dryers of any age and working status from new through retired, whether in-service or not. Furthermore, the guidelines are equally applicable to steel and cast-iron dryers with or without the presence of a metallized surface coating.
