TAPPI TIP 0609-01: Nonwood fiber raw materials offer pulp and paper makers a vast potential resource in addition to trees.
One of the difficulties encountered often is matching the common or local name for a particular nonwood fiber raw material with its scientific name so that one can search for available technical literature on the nonwood fiber raw material.
This TIP provides the scientific names and the common/local names of nonwood fiber raw materials that are currently used by the international pulp and paper industry or that have been the focus of published research.
The list likely does not include all of the nonwood fiber raw materials that have been studied in research papers, and it should be considered a work-in-progress.
As much as possible, this TIP includes the common names in English, French, German and Spanish. In addition, common/local names in other languages are included where known.
