This specification defines the interface between BTS and BSC within the BS. The interface between BSs is specified in the TIA/EIA/IS-2001.
Following features are not specified in this version of the specification. They are for further study.
Operations, Administration, Maintenance, and Provisioning (OAM&P)* 1
Abis Overload control
SMS-Broadcast
Inter BSC hard/soft handoff *2
Flood paging
*1 It is recommended that any OAM&P related information be aligned with the TIA/EIA-828, Abis interface. .
*2 Inter BSC (BS) hard/soft handoff is supported in the TIA/EIA/IS-2001.
The functions supported in TIA/EIA/IS-2001 shall be supported implicitly for the Abis interface and shall not modify the information transmitted on the radio channels.
The conditions for supporting Abis Interface features are equivalent to TIA/EIA/IS-2001.
