This Standard specifies the labeling requirements for terminal equipment approved by a Telecommunications Certification Body or a Supplier's Declaration of Conformity for connection to the telephone network in accordance with 47 CFR 68.

Other labeling requirements may be applicable to terminal equipment for other reasons (e.g., U.S. Customs Service, safety, EMC); however, such requirements do not fall under the scope of this standard.

The definitions of terminal equipment and responsible party (RP) found in 47 CFR 68.3 shall apply for the purposes of this Standard.

In this standard, the word "shall" denotes a mandatory requirement.
