PURPOSE AND SCOPE

To develop cabling and component specifications and test procedures to support the operation of high-speed applications, such as IEEE 802.3an 10GBASE-T, over up to 100 meters of structured balanced twisted-pair cabling. This Standard specifies requirements and recommendations for 100 W 4-pair category 6A cabling, cables, cords, and connecting hardware up to 500 MHz. This Standard includes extending the frequency range and adding requirements (e.g. alien crosstalk) to those specified in ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B.2 and its addenda.
