These requirements cover electric chain saws rated not more than 250 V, for use in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.
In addition these requirements cover accessories and attachments for use with electric chain saws. Specific requirements are outlined in Sections 82 - 90.
These requirements cover double-insulated chain saws. Specific requirements are given in Sections 60 ? 81.
These requirements cover accessories and attachments that are:
a) Recommended by the manufacturer;
b) Identified by catalog number (or equivalent product d esignation) in the instruction manual for a chain saw; or
c) Packed with a chain saw.
These requirements do not cover accessories or attachments that:
a) Are not provided with the chain saw; and
b) Are not identified in the required instruction ma nual by catalog numbers or equivalent product designation
? such as those mentioned in mini-catalogs or fliers that may or may not be provided with the chain saw.
A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those in use when the Standard was developed, and that
involves a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product requirements as determined
necessary to mai ntain the level of safety for the user of the product as originally anticipated by the intent of this Standard.
