These requirements cover electric space heati ng cables intended for space heating purposes, rated 277 V or less, for installation in ordinary locations in accordance
with Article 424 and other applicable parts of the National Electrical Code.
These requirements apply to space heating cables intended for installation in ceilings of enclosed structures or within or beneath floors of enclosed structures where
the floor is constructed of noncombustible material, concrete, or asphalt.
These requirements do not cover pipe heating cables, roof and gutter de-icing cables, cables intended for snow melting and de-icing, heating panels, heating panel
sets, or any other electric heating equipment or appliances that are covered by individual requirements that are separate from this Standard.
A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those in use when the Standard was developed, and that
involves a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product requirements as determined
necessary to mai ntain the level of safety for the user of the product as originally anticipated by the intent of this Standard.
