Garage equipment intended for use in Class I, Division 1, and Class I, Division 2 Hazardous Locations as defined in the National Electrical Code,
NFPA 70 is investigated under these requirements and, in addition, is investigated with respect to its acceptability for the particular application.

This standard covers the electrical requirements for portable automotive lifting devices. The other requirements for portable automotive lifting
devices (including mechanical and marking requirements) are included in ANSI/ASME PALD-1997, the Standard for Portable Automotive Lifting Devices.
These requirements do not cover arc-welders, automotive battery chargers, battery testers, electric automotive tools, vacuum cleaners, equipment
using refrigerants, or other equipment that is covered by individual requirements.
