This method is for simultaneously determining organically based carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen in coals, cokes, oils and other materials. The detection range for each element is 0.04 to 100 mass-%. Water contained in the samples will contribute to the hydrogen values. Solid samples containing greater than 5% sodium carbonate may be incompletely pyrolyzed resulting in low carbon values.
