The wear test bed is used for the evaluation of wear materials in the bulk materials industry. The result of the test in the wear test bed is the qualitative and extensive quantitative assessment of a wear protection material. It is therefore used by suppliers of composite armoured panels, coating manufacturers or manufacturers of additives for coatings, e.g. welding filler material. The wear test bed is also used for alloy development and technology development, and quality control.

The metallic material can be applied by cladding, thermal spraying, inductive processes or similar methods.

In addition to the development of metallic materials, it is also possible to examine the wear resistance of the materials with different bulk materials, by changing the test parameters of the abrasive materials.

The test bed is used for metallic materials only – plastics and elastomers usually are not examined in this test bed.
