Scope and purpose
A major advantage of digital drive control devices is the possibility they offer of carrying out diagnostics in the case of a fault and their capacity for communication. A disadvantage for users of different products is the Variation in handling and the extreme Variation in operating the drive control devices.
This guideline is intended to help bring about the user-friendly Operation, regardless of manufacturer, of drive control devices with a communication capacity, using Computers as man-machine components.
If the described interface is integrated into a supervisory Software system (e.g. control system, field bus communication network) parts of the functions may be outsourced to the supervisory system (e.g. communication, see Section 5.3). This presupposes that human-machine interfaces are organised in a standardised way and that they look the same. Software that has been harmonised in appearance and the way it is operated makes it easier for the user of different products to operate/communicate with digital drive control devices, without needing to have specialised knowledge of each individual device.
The aim of this guideline is to present the user interface in a Standard way, with regard to form, appearance, operating sequences and menu structure.
