The purpose of this Bulletin is the comparison of methods for evaluating Local Thin Areas (LTA) in cylinders subject to internal pressure and net-section forces and moments, based on physical tests. The tests relevant to our comparison, with focus on the circumferential extent of the LTA and supplemental loads (net-section forces and moments) are expensive to conduct and therefore very rare and valuable. Since we have found more test data addressing the circumferential extent of LTAs and the effect of supplemental loads, we are releasing this updated version of the Bulletin.
