This standard provides design criteria for systems and equipment of an installation for the receipt and temporary dry storage of spent fuel transferred from light water reactors after at least one year of cooling or from water pool type independent spent fuel storage installations. This installation is independent of nuclear power stations and reprocessing facilities but could be located at an existing nuclear power station or reprocessing facility site. For the latter cases, the standard presents interface requirements for the shared systems of the collocated installations.
