The scope of this document is to define a new avionics software loading protocol standard. It defines the software loading operations in terms of sequences of messages, and it defines the byte organization of the messages.
This document does not discuss memory management of the target. This is consistent with other software loading specifications. The erasure of NVM memory and the restoration of memory when an upload aborts are examples of memory management issues that are platform specific and are not specified in the standard.
