This Standard lays down minimum requirements for ensuring the satisfactory use of admixtures covered by AS 1478, both at mixing plant and on site, and is written in a mandatory form to be of practical value to design and construction authorities concerned with the specifying of concrete. It does not deal with the advisability or otherwise of using admixtures. An extensive appendix provides information on water-reducing and set-controlling admixtures, and on air-entraining admixtures, and is intended to assist in the interpretation of the Standards; it deals with the uses of admixtures, and their classes, actions, and properties generally.
