Sets out a procedure for determining abrasion resistance by subjecting the surface of test specimens to abrasive action of air-blown alumina grit under specified conditions. Loss in mass of specimen is used to calculate abradability index. Method includes a fully dimensioned illustration of suitable test apparatus and a means of calibration by use of a reference glass of certified mass loss.
