This slide presentation outlines information on selecting and operating a pressure filter for manganese and iron removal. Topics covered include: iron/manganese issues; control and treatment; sequestration/deflocculation; removal mechanisms; and, oxidation/precipitation or
filtration/adsorption. Four case studies are presented of iron/manganese removal facilities and pilot testing, filter media and loading rate, oxidation reagent, contact time and reaction tank, and other inorganic removal by dual media filters are all discussed.
